SELLING YOUR TRAIL NOT YOUR CLIENT

There is perhaps a misconception amongst brokers that selling your trails is tantamount to selling your clients, but this couldn’t be further from the truth. In fact, the best way to go about selling your trails is to maintain relationships with your clients.

CAN I BUY MY TRAIL BOOK BACK?

When selling your trail book using Trail Marketplace, clients can have the option to sell their trail book and then buy it back after a minimum of one year. The buy-back option can be particularly beneficial for clients who are seeking a short term funding situation. This is not obligatory, but an option available to clients.

WHAT SHOULD I LOOK OUT FOR WHEN BUYING?

The due diligence on a book falls into two categories. The first relates to the verification of information about the book itself including reviewing aggregator agreements, trail commission reports, and historical RCTI's. The second part of the due diligence is verification of matters relating to the seller itself from a legal risk management perspective. The purchaser in all cases should verify the identity of the broker.

HOW DO YOU DETERMINE THE VALUE OF A BOOK

There are many variables that can affect the value of a trail book, which include, among other things, the size of the book, the age of the loans, the types of loans, and the amortisation rate.
